The Flight Club shoe store on Melrose Boulevard in West Hollywood got looted by The Protesters.

The Flight Club, in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, specializes in extremely expensive versions of sneakers, such as the “just dropped” $295 “AIR JORDAN 4 RETRO “COURT PURPLE” and the $375 “YEEZY BOOST 700 MNVN “TRIPLE BLACK,“” (Is Michael Jordan still cool? He was oppressively cool when I was a young man, but that was a long, long time ago, both for me and Michael.)

In the 1992 L.A. Rodney King Riots, the rioters started by looting local Korean-owned liquor stores. It only eventually dawned upon the liquor-addled brains of the looters that there was better stuff to steal in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills than in their own dumpy neighborhoods, by which points the cops had gotten organized enough to stop them. This time, however, The Protestors went quickly for their favorite stores, like Flight Exchange, in the best parts of town.

It’s interesting to observe the ecstatic body language of the looters. They don’t steal from their fellow looters coming out of the store, presumably with better stuff than what’s left. Instead, they themselves want to go into the store and SHOP. It’s like when Romy and Michelle tear up at the end of watching Pretty Women when the snooty bitches on Rodeo Drive finally let Julia Roberts shop. (read more)
