CLINICAL SYMPTOMS
Myocarditis can manifest like a myocardial infarction with sudden-onset angina pectoris, arrhythmias, and/or heart failure developing within days.

While 60% to 70% of patients improve clinically and hemodynamically, the remaining patients will develop chronic heart failure or dilated cardiomyopathy within months or years.

If irreversible myocardial damage has occurred, for which no specific treatment options exist — such as in postinfectious or postinflammatory dilated cardiomyopathy that is diagnosed too late — the development or progression of heart failure in the long term cannot be prevented. (source)
